The last Succubus Queen lies dying at the feet of heroes. They rejoice in the hope that this will end the war with the demons, and usher in an age of peace. With her last breaths the defeated queen whispers her final gift to the world. A curse on all heroes, so that all who earn the title will be hunted down just like they hunted down the demons.
The idyllic future that the heroes fought for lasted only a scant few years. It started as a rumor, odd figures creeping in the forest, tainted beasts forming groups to attack heroes. When the first 'reaper' was seen most people has started to shun their former heroes. While the heroes fought valiantly they could not handle the seemingly unending tide monstrous abominations. But the 'reapers' did not stop after crushing the bulk of the heroes, and started to attack seemingly random people.
It's been several decades since the fall of the heroes, and slowly the rules of the curse were learned. Saving a person by risking your own life, or killing a person for reasons other than personal gain.
